Soups On!

April 1, 2008 - March 31, 2009

Sharon of Ex Libris (and the host of several other wonderful challenges) is hosting the Soups On! Challenge. She says:

All you have to do is select six cookbooks to read (*You don't have to read each individual recipe. Just read enough to give an overview of the book) and make at least one of the recipes. These can be any cookbooks of your choice - brand new ones, old stand-bys that you can't live (or cook) without, or even heirlooms. You do not have to decide on the cookbooks ahead of time (unless you want to, of course). Then post your reviews either here or on your own blog. If you want, you can even post pictures of your creations along with your reviews!

Do you love cookbooks? Love to cook? Want to see what others are creating? This might be just the challenge for you! To sign up and contribute to the challenge blog, post a comment on the post about the challenge and request an invitation to participate.

A Reading Wife Challenge

September 12, 2007 - April 30, 2008

UPDATE March 18, 2008:
It has been brought to my attention that the blog for this challenge no longer exists. I have no way to contact the host. I plan on leaving this post up until the end of the challenge period, as I know readers who are participating. The list of books at Library Thing is still there for reference.

E.B. if you are reading this, I hope all is well with you. I always worry a bit when someone drops 'off the radar.'

********

E.B. left a comment for me about a challenge she is hosting beginning TODAY. It is a unique challenge in that all books must have a title or subtitle that follows the format: (adjective/possessive) Wife. She has a LibraryThing catalog of book ideas here. She also lists book ideas on her blog. You choose the number of books you will read - but the more you read, the more chances you get to win a $15 Amazon gift certificate at the end of the challenge! Go to A Reading Wife blog to sign up with Mr. Linky and read more about this fun challenge!

Another Bloomin' Challenge

March 20 - June 20, 2008

Esther is hosting a fun spring challenge. Another Bloomin' Challenge encourages readers to get into the feeling of spring, picking flowery titles and offering several options to choose from:

BUD-VASE: Just as a bud vase highlights the beauty of a single bloom, this challenge level asks you to read a single book with a flower in the title.
NOSEGAY:
Like a small bunch of flowers gathered together, this challenge level asks you to read two or more books with the same flower in the title.
BOUQUET:
Fill a vase with the bounty of the season. For this challenge level read four or more books each with a different flower in the title.
GARDEN:
When you just can't get enough, this challenge level requires you to read six or more books with flowers or flowery words (bloom, blossom, petal, etc.) in the title.
